Perfect starter coop. Great size. I have 8 four month old chickens inside so far as a practice coop. They love it. They lie on the description though. It DOES come with TWO ROOSTING BARS & 3 Nesting boxes

This rocks for a sturdy outdoor coop. We have 3 silkies and I feel rest assured they are safe in the coop at night. we added pet barriers around the lower section to prohibit predators at night. I added hardware for better locking systems, but that is for all ready made coops.

I have built a number of these chicken coop kits over the years and I really approach them from the viewpoint that they are a basic design which will require some enhancements to be useful and safe for my hens.
Examples:The 1/4 inch hardware mesh is inadequate to keep mice out, so on kits like this I always cover over the mesh with a 1/8″ hardware mesh.I was a little surprised that this kit did not include some basic latches (basically it came with two small squares of wood which could be used as latches).
I also tend to add acrylic plastic over the larger screened openings; helps with rain and limiting air circulation.The smaller screened openings I put the 1/8″ hardware mesh over the existing 1/4 inch mesh.
Overall, I really loved this kit and it had some nice features.Of course with something like this you are going to want to pour a concrete ‘floor’ as a barrier against rodents and digging predators.
For a basic design to add to, I really couldn’t recommend this item more highly!

This coop definitely exceeded my expectations. The wood is a little thin but once it’s put together it’s sturdy. All pieces were in great condition upon arrival, nothing was broke or missing. Assembly was fairly easy, I put it together in just a couple of hours with no help from my husband!

we are a cat rescue and use these for our mom’s with kittens it woulds amazing well. We love it so much we have gotten several for our rescue and when people come out to adopt cats they are always impressed with them and the cats running around in them PERFECT for rescue will get more of theses for sure… They are so cute

I was going to return it because I did not remember reading anything about resting Bars for the chickens and the more reviews I read , the more concerned I became about my choice. However, I was pleasantly impressed by how heavy and sturdy this chicken coop is and the fact that there are two resting bars for the chickens. Now, I am glad that I followed my instinct and did not send the coop back. The only complaint I have is there are no latches for either of the doors,but that is a simple fix for me, along with sealing the wood.

I just unwrapped and set this up and am in love. The wood is soft and I will probably have to replace the ramp because shes already chewed on it but this is way bigger than I expected. If the size of my dog is any indication this is a beautiful amount of room. It also will fit a 9year old little girl comfortably as she sits with the rabbit. Shes a Velveteen Lop, so not a huge rabbit but one who needs some space. The roosting areas in the back we converted into hay and green feeders.

I got this to raise my baby pullets in.Excellent design, love it.I plan to use it for a broody hen to hatch her chicks in the future.It just needed an appropriate latch for the door and nest box top.We have raccoons.Good for two full grown hens; especially if they can roam outside of the pen in the daytime.
